Where to next?

So I turned on Sportscenter this morning and was watching some of the recap from last nights Eagles’ game and they were interviewing Donovan McNabb.  All I could think of was Marshawn Lynch’s interview last week. McNabb said that as a team, each individual said that they can do better and for the last couple of weeks they have been doing.  It goes along with what I talked about yesterday and veteran leadership.  The Eagles have enough players who know what it takes to win and the Bills didn’t have enough players stand up and say I can do better when things got tough they crumbled.

The Sabres and Bills are both at somewhat of the same time in terms of development and age, but the big difference is the young players on the Sabres went to back-to-back conference Finals and had savvy veterans to learn from and hopefully start to carry over for themselves and you’re starting to see Vanek, Roy, Pommer, Gaustad and the rest of the team take that leadership role. I’m just not sure where the Bills are going to look to get it outside of Marshawn Lynch and maybe Donte Whitner.  I really hate Tom Donahue as a person for having back-to-back-to-back TERRIBLE drafts.  It’s beyond annoying that his first day picks have turned into almost nothing and that’s why we’re lacking the veteran leadership.

On a side note, Syracuse managed to lose to Cleveland State on prayer.  I’m not even that upset about it because the game shouldn’t have been that close and Syracuse played terrible, but seriously, what a freakin shot.

Just another swift kick to the

As if sports haven’t been bad enough recently. I was holding out hope that Syracuse would save it and then Eric Devendorf goes and punches a girl in the face and gets kicked out of school for the year. Awesome. Great. They should still be good enough to compete and it’s MOOKIE JONES TIME!

Niagra Falls boys shine

Sabres play tonight and my sister, brother-in-law and two nephews will be in town and we’ll watch the game and relax heading into the big day tomorrow.  But I had to give some love the two Niagara Falls boys after last night.  I’m not sure how many people saw, but Syracuse beat Kansas in a great college basketball game.  Jonny Flynn is a stud and showed it last night by dominating long stretches of the second half and hitting the game tying three to send the game to overtime.

Did Boeheim just shit himself?

Meanwhile, the enigma that is Paul Harris continued to impress.  My friend said to me last night that after Monday’s win how he couldn’t stand Paul Harris and thought he sucked until he saw the box score.  His play is agonizing sometimes, but the only thing that really bothers me is how weak he is with the ball sometimes. But look what he had last night: 14 points, 14 rebounds 5 assists, 3 turnovers, 2 blocks and a steal in 38 minutes.  That’s a phenomenal game especially with what this SU team has.  Those are the games they need from him.  His problem is that his turnovers are so ungodly bad that they seem like 3 turnovers in one and that’s Paul Harris.  Apparently Dick Vitale and Dan Shulman don’t think he’s an NBA player, but definitely is the next Antonio Gates.  People underestimated this team and yes I’m a fan of SU basketball, but they really overestimated how much losing Donte Green would hurt and undervalued Eric Devendorf and Andy Rautins coming back.  Eric Devendorf with Jonny Flynn are arguably the best back court in America (I said arguably).  Arinze is a beast and Harris is the jack of all trades.  Big game on Friday along with a Sabres/Penguins game.  Good thing my rehearsal dinner is that night and god bless DVR
